Sunnydale After Dark
News

A little note from Chelle, Dusty, and sandy_s, who are back at the helm!

We’re thrilled that we were able to create havoc and unleash our inner demons today— your participation and outrage was very enjoyable! We had a blast creating this little detour and are happy to return you now to our regularly scheduled program.

You all are the whole reason we’re here and we can’t begin to thank you enough for all the love, camaraderie, and participation. We’ve never seen so many wonderful drabbles and so many thoughtful comments as we have this past month!

And now the SADmins are signing off to…

Oh, wait. Spike? Buffy? Angel? What are you guys still doing here?

“You hired us for this shit, didn’t you?” Spike demanded, chin jutting out proudly. “Took all my time away from Buffy and her sweet—”

“Do not finish that sentence!” Angel snapped. “What he meant to say is that we were happy to help out the fandom. The stories here are— well, they’re… stories. About Buffy and Spike. And maybe I felt a little bit left out. But even I can admit they’re amazing.”

“They are. They are amazing!” Buffy declared. “And we’re very happy that this fandom is still so popular and that Sunnydale After Dark’s recent drabble event was such a success.”

“I had a starring role. I’m dead chuffed. These writers know where the real meat of a story is.” Spike leered at Angel.

“Spike.” Buffy sighed.

Angel shook his head. “Our point is, we’re grateful. And whether you’re writing just Buffy and Spike or, I dunno, including the guy who happened to be pretty significant to Buffy and Spike’s lives, um… or I guess using the whole ensemble—”

“Even Xander?” Spike interrupted.

“Even Xander,” Buffy snapped.

Angel growled, “Can I finish?”

“Go for it.” Spike pouted.

“The point is!” Angel shouted. “Sunnydale After Dark welcomes everyone. Even me. Which is pretty awesome. And, uh, that’s why I’m officially dropping the lawsuit. Even if I have to deal with some angry demon lawyers to do it.”

Buffy snorted. “There are a whole host of reasons to drop your ridiculous lawsuit.”

“Trying to be nice here…”

“What Forehead is trying and failing to say is you are all a wicked talented lot and we’re your willing puppets. Do with us what you will.” Spike wrapped both arms around Buffy. “Make it dirty if you can.”

Happy April, everyone!

We hope you have a fabulous rest of your month.

Drabble awards are on their way soon clap

Leave it to Buffy, Spike, and Angel to snatch away our speech and make it allll about them. Little brats.

And if anyone wants to write some Buffy/Spike/Angel ... I've been assured that Spike doesn't mind. As long as he gets more 'airtime' than Angel. Whatever that means.

You guys are amazing and we all love your guts! :)

You SADmins are AMAZING, and totally made my whole day for hiring these three! Buffy and Spike, I feel safe when you're around, and Angel... I try to be nice to you. I promise I do. You just kinda need to stay far away from my darlings in order for that to occur, mmkay?

I love you all, this community and site are amazing! spuffy

I need a bowing down emoji, cuz that's really more like it. All of you admins (and D'Hoffryn, I *know* he was involved) are so brilliant and fantastic for this. And for hosting our favorite people (and Angel) for the day!

All are welcome to this amazing community - yay! Even Angel (conditionally). And I'm really glad that law suit has been dropped so we can continue our Spuffy fanfare in peace. Now if we can just get rid of that eyesore of a banner...

This was so much fun! It was amazing joining in on the event. It was funny and interesting and the gift that kept on giving. Thank you for organizing it!

PS, I wanna work on that Spuffel

I had a blast yesterday, all of it really cracked me up. Also huge thanks to D’Hoffryn for his part in this 😆. This community has been such a blast the past drabble month! I need some rest but can’t wait to find out what the next event will be.

This was definitely the best April's fools day I've ever had.

Spike offered me a cookie and I got the interview questions PMd by Buffy. I couldn't ask for more. And I'm totally framing that comment from Spike. 🤣

PS: Whoever it was, just know you made my day ♥️

YOU ARE THE BESTEST! (I've been inventing words for drabble comments, you're getting it too 😝)

Ha, I guess here is where I can write about the March event in general. I've only been here--strictly as a reader--since early February, and I was still trying to find a--what's the word?--healthy way of navigating through the SAD treasure trove, i.e. without spending far too many hours here, and trying to find ways of reading 30+ chapters of a story straight through, then finding out that NO, the story has yet to be completed!, when the March drabble event got started. And that was quite the challenge in terms of not-spending-all-day-reading!

It was a fantabulous experience! It gave me the opportunity to discover many other authors, leading to loading my bookshelf down with more and more to read... later? now? ASAP? It was interesting, fascinating, to see how each of the authors used the prompts to further their stories, impressions, jigsaw puzzles, and what-not. I was so glad to find a Dawn-centric one (I really love the character), and my mind was blown away by how some of them ran me, without pity, through the wringer of every possible range of emotions. I rarely did more than just "like" the various episodes, so eager was I to forge on and read more, so my apologies for that. I realize that the authors were grateful for feedback, and have noticed that most of it came from fellow authors who understand that need. I love the positive dynamics among the authors! I did plan to write a comment at the end, for the drabbles I liked best, and hopefully I'll get around to it. They're added to the already very numerous "Due for review" stories I have on my bookshelf, and even if it's late, I hope to show my appreciation to each of you at some point down the line. I have a lame excuse. I usually read SAD stories on my phone, and I'm just not that great at "tapping," rather than typing. I'm on my laptop at the moment, waiting for my daughter to show up for a Skype date that she seems to have forgotten.

What stumps me is how do you all find the time for so much of this? Your generosity to us readers is mind-boggling. I barely have enough time to read! I'm in awe, truthfully, of your energy. I'm impressed with the writing, the specific styles (I'm beginning to recognize the authors as I read), the originality, the fantasy, the hurt-and-comfort ability of each of you!

Having in my past life been in charge of several Web sites and discussion forums, I do appreciate the dedication of the SADmins and the (famous?) D'Hoffryn, whose profile I hope to find.

So this is just a note of HUGE APPRECIATION to one and all of you from this newbie SAD reader, who is hoping she will soon be able to pace herself so she doesn't have to go cold turkey on what is clearly an addiction for the moment.

You guys are hilarious. I'm sorry my yesterday was as busy as it was that I just caught the fringes of it. But you're all ridiculous and I love you.

-- Lady Emma on 04/02/23 10:13 am

Yesterday was hysterical. I'm just sorry I was too busy to keep up with everything. And very grateful that WR&H has been banished, along with their Angel hyping.  Ya'll really know how to have fun!

You guys seriously make me so happy.

I can't believe how much participation this event inspired. The comments alone are astonishing, but the writers who went above and beyond ... wow. Creativity? TEN! Interpreting our prompts in amazingly original ways? 11! I adore all of you so much and your enthusiasm is just beautiful. I am PROUD of you all and proud of this community we've built together. YOU are the reason we're here and YOU are the reason this place is thriving. YOUR voice matters here and always will. So much. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. I wish I could hug you all!

Months and months ago, the SADmins talked about our hopes and our plans and our goals for what we wanted this place to become and you guys have fulfilled it again and again. You showed up and showed out so many times that we can't even believe it.

Thanks for being you. Thanks for being here. Thanks for letting us host your amazing content. And thanks for lifting each other up so often. THAT is what we wanted the very most. :)

XOXO,
