Legend Has It… that there’s another event coming on September 1!
Get ready for stories and artwork pulled from the scrolls of ancient tribes, legends told around a campfire, superstitions, and myths galore! Dragons? Why not?! Fairy godmothers? Heck yeah! What about crossing your fingers for luck, or holding your breath as you pass a graveyard? What about a mysterious ghost who haunts that old country road?
The possibilities are endless, and we cannot wait to see what this event will inspire!
The rules are simple. Stories must be at least 1000 words to qualify, but there is no maximum word count if you want to write multiple chapters. And artists? Boy, are we excited to see what your talented hands create! Banners, manips, paintings, drawings, all are welcome.
Everyone can submit an unlimited number of works, just make sure to select the event box to earn your participant award!
“But SADmins, I don’t know what in the frilly heck to create!” said no one, but hypothetically it could have been you.
SAD’s gotcha covered! For inspiration, we’ve compiled a list of prompts to kickstart your creative flow. You do not have to use any of these, or maybe you’d like to use all of them! It’s up to you!

Yes! Just a one month event this time! <3
September's potentially going to be a harsh month for life stuff that came up lately. Hoping to participate in some way.
As happens so often, I'm looking at the suggestions and already have a fic that contains three of them! Argh! Now to think of something new..... I have a troll under the bridge somewhere too, but it may not be visible anywhere now.... sigh when you've been around as long as I have, it's hard to find something you haven't already done or used somewhere in something.....
Is it wrong that I want an entire skin built around this banner? Those colors are everything!
I'm thinking about all the creepy legends from my neck of the woods. We have a Heartbeat Bridge where you supposedly hear a heart beating while something pushes your car uphill (while it's in neutral.) We also have The Lady in White and if you don't stop and ask her if she wants a ride ... she appears in your backseat and you see her in the rearview mirror and she cries blood. We also have a Witch's gravesite and legend says if you lay down on your belly and put your ear to the ground ... you can hear her screaming in her coffin. There are so many amazing things to write with this. I hope someone does Black Eyed Children. I'm too scared to do that but I'd SO read the heck out of it. And if someone wanted to tackle the Wendigo or Skinwalkers ... YES! Just yes to that. Native American legends are so scary but somehow beautiful, too.
Another exciting event!!!
@Chelle, do you listen to podcasts? Astonishing Legends has covered so many of these Urban Legends💕Being from the North East, I love the legend of the Jersey Devil.
Ooh! This is a fun new event! I love the idea. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!
I’m so excited for this!
And what a cool banner and great set of prompts 🐦🔥
@Harmonyy99, I love The Jersey Devil! I've watched so much on YouTube about it! I'll have to check out that podcast, too!
It's a shame about the Jersey Devil. . . they haven't won a Stanley Cup since Martin Brodeur retired.
Serious question now though. I've got an idea for a multiple chapter story -- but the whole thing doesn't need to be posted by the end of September does it?
Hi, Niamh! Just the first chapter needs to be posted by the end of September :)
OMG! The "Legends" awards are amazing! Kudos to whomever made these gorgeous graphics ♥️
So, time range is September 1 through 30?
I'll be looking forward to some beta reading!!!!!
