Summary: Life has moved on for Buffy and Spike. Living parallel lives in the vibrant cities of Oakland and San Francisco, Buffy and Spike find their worlds colliding yet again. There's this movie, 'sleeping with other people'. It's a 2015 romcom and it's surprisingly decent considering the title. Most of the movie was alright, but there was this one scene that stuck in my head long after I had forgotten all of the other details.

To sum it up, the two main characters lay facing each other. The girl looks at the guy and asks him "Are we in love with each other?" The guy nods. Then she asks "What are we going to do about it?" And he kind of shakes his head.
She goes "What do you want to do?"
And he says "Nothing. There's nothing to do. I love you for free Lainey."
"I love you for free Jake."
That's just my little summary. I'd recommend watching the clip because I don't think I quite captured the emotion of it.
My challenge is basically to take that scene and make it Spuffy. You can just rewrite the scene, or you can include it in a broader fic. You don't even need to include the 'love you for free bit'. It was always the first bit that impacted me the most.
