Story Notes: So happy to have this as my SAD debut! This came about for a few reasons. Mainly, discovering JM's words about Spike making a rose garden for Buffy and challenging myself to write something new after months of struggling with writer's block. The story starts out during the summer after The Gift and will progress through Season Six. Not exactly a rewrite, but definitely an alternate take. Something about the inherent romance of care, even after someone is gone (who won't stay gone, of course. But our boy doesn't know that just yet).
